《雪狮与龙》初稿译者序
2005年秋天，我来到云南省德钦县，寻访一所民办藏文学校——德钦普利藏文学校。这所学校是一名一字不识的藏人阿牛，为了发扬本民族的语言、文化，自费创建。作为德钦唯一一所民办的以藏文教育为主的学校，学校实行全免费教育，并承担贫困学生的生活费。8年以来，学校经历了各种坎坷，也受到的社会各界的大力资助，包括当地政府的关心。
在此之前，我对藏族了解很少。觉得和中国其他的少数民族差不多，生活在自然环境很艰苦的地方。当然，我对疆独和藏独也有所闻，但是了解不深。关注这个学校的原因，一是一直以来对贫困地区教育的关心；另外，藏族在一般人的心目中，多少也有些神秘的色彩。正好年假时间合适，我就来到了学校。

雪狮与龙正文翻译初稿完成
终于完成了《雪狮与龙》正文的翻译。
接下来打算把Notes和Bibliography翻译完。Index暂时不打算翻译了，因为在可以预见的将来，本翻译可能将以网页形式出现，等可能会出版的时候再讨论Index的问题。我会在翻译完Notes和Biblography之后，对初稿进行校对；如果有可能的话，请方家帮我做二校。
我开这个博客，很大程度上和这本书有关，各位读者可以参看发愿翻译一本关于西藏历史的书。翻译之初，对藏族了解甚少；翻译过程中翻阅了大量有关藏族历史的书籍和网页，知识也长进了不少；现在翻译完了，可以说在这方面也小有了解，甚至写了一篇处理西藏问题——中程建议。目前，我不觉得藏人神秘、了不起，也不觉得讨厌、可怜，进入了一个很平和的状态。
翻译完了第四章
终于又翻完了一章，应该说主要关于历史的内容都差不多了。翻译这一章节的时候，作为一个汉族人，感觉很沉重。
还剩下最后一章，最后一章有33页。主要内容是Dr. Goldstein对未来的一个建议。
Disorder of events in 1989?
The year 1989 brought another dramatic setback for Beijing when the Dalai Lama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Tibetans everywhere considered this a major victory—an indirect but powerful statement that their cause was just and valid, and a sign that the world was lining up behind the Dalai Lama in his fight with China. Finally, 1989 also brought the Tiananmen debacle. Although this event had no direct impact on the situation in Tibet because Tibetans had little interest in or sympathy for what they considered a “Han” affair, it fostered a more hard-line political policy in China that made it easier to take stern measures in Tibet.
I feel such order of the depicted events is inappropriate. Most believed the awarding Dalai Lama of Nobel Peace Prize of 1989 is clearly an indirect response to China Goverment’s crackdown of Tiananmen students.
